| Abstract Nahj al-Balagha, as a foundational text in Shi‘a Islamic thought, encompasses a coherent system of theological concepts in which resistance against oppression, deviation, and injustice plays a central role. This article aims to examine the place of the theology of resistance in Nahj al-Balagha by addressing the question: what are the core components of this theology in the words of Imam Ali (a.s.), and upon what epistemological and doctrinal foundations is it based? Employing a descriptive-analytical method and qualitative content analysis of the sermons, letters, and sayings within Nahj al-Balagha, the study reveals that concepts such as justice, enjoining good and forbidding evil, jihad in the path of truth, opposition to tyranny, and social responsibility form the main pillars of this theology. Imam Ali (a.s.) presents resistance not merely as a political act but as a manifestation of belief in divine unity (tawhid), human dignity, and moral-religious duty. The findings suggest that Nahj al-Balagha offers both a theological and strategic framework for rearticulating the discourse of resistance in contemporary contexts. |
